Description
Manaus Levamicil; effective treatment against Nematodes in aquariums
Levamicil from the brand Manaus is a very effective medicine against diseases caused by nematodes (roundworms) in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums. This medicine helps fight parasites that affect the gastrointestinal tract of ornamental fish.
It does not discolor the aquarium water, keeping your aquarium clean and clear.
Why Manaus Levamicil?
Levamicil is based on the highly effective Levamisole Hydrochloride, a powerful agent against nematodes.
All types of ornamental fish can become infested with roundworms. Nematodes mainly infect the gut and abdominal cavity of fish. These parasitizing worms irritate or possibly perforate (pierced) the intestinal wall of the infected fish and subsequently cause inflammation with a fatal outcome.
Most nematode infections in fish are caused by hairworms (Capillaria sp.) and Camallanus cotti. In Discus fish, Oxyuridae sp. (also called Discus Madenwurm in German) more common, another nematode species that causes infections.
These parasitic infections are therefore responsible for the gradual decline and eventual death of the fish. Young fish and smaller species are particularly vulnerable and die quickly under heavy infestation. It is important to treat breeding pairs or groups when an infection is confirmed, especially before spawning.
Symptoms Nematodes:
Recognizing a nematode infection is essential for prompt treatment. Additionally, the symptoms that fish show with a hairworm infection can be very different. Infections by Capillaria sp. are the easiest to confirm by microscopic examination of Nematode eggs in the droppings when suspected.
Look for the following symptoms in your fish:
– Red worms hanging out of the fish’s anus, but they can also hang on the abdominal
– Slimy feces
– No appetite
– Swollen abdomen
– Shy and jumpy behavior
How do I know my fish is sick?
Making the correct diagnosis is essential for rapid recovery. Many fish diseases are highly contagious and spread quickly in the aquarium water. It is therefore very important that you can treat the fish quickly. There are mostly early signs to warn you if something is not okay with your fish, only you have to recognize them.
– Skin: the skin is the first protection and defense system and shows usually also the first signs of a disease or deficiency due to an infection. You should keep a close eye on any discoloration as they may indicate an infection.
– Fins: pay attention to the fins. When the fish holds its fins close to the body, this may be an indication of a disease or deficiency. Especially with viviparous fish.
– Swimming behavior: for example, unusual swimming or wiggling movements may indicate the presence of a disease.
