Pseudacanthicus pirarara "L25" is a large, powerful armored catfish with a striking appearance. It has a dark base color with bright, contrasting spots or stripes. The fins are often red or orange.
It is found in the Rio Xingu in Brazil. Here it lives in its natural environment in fast-flowing water with many rocks and hiding places.
In the aquarium, Pseudacanthicus pirarara can be fed a varied diet of frozen food, such as mosquito larvae, artemia and fish fillets. Tablets and granules for carnivorous fish are also suitable.
Since it is a fairly territorial fish, it should be taken into account when keeping this fish that it needs a large aquarium with sufficient swimming space and hiding places. It is important to ensure good water quality and current.
