What is a Ziss Aqua ZB-300 Bubble moving media filter?

Ziss Aqua moving filter media ZM-1 is a high quality bio-filter material that is possible to use in a moving or static bed filter.
It is designed in the form of a wheel with a large attachment surface, so that bacteria involved in the nitrification process can adhere to the filter material. These bacteria remove harmful ammonia and nitrite from the water.

How does this filter material work?

The material is slightly buoyant. Unlike foam, mats, or other forms of static filtration, this media is designed to move freely within your filter. Air from your air pump causes the filter media to move, and this constant chaotic movement causes a self-cleaning property of the material. You therefore do not have to maintain the filter, which makes it an effective filter material. This also means that there are no disruptions to periodic cleaning of the filter, which prevents the unnecessary loss of bacteria.
It is smart to place a sponge behind the filter material that collects the waste so that it does not end up in your aquarium or pond.
